Avenues Music

This is a secret blog where I post demos of my songs. Really rough demos, so don't expect any fancy guitars and singing on key.

Rainy Evening

Rainy Evening LYRICS:
—————————————————————————-

Am-Dm-Em-Am

I feel I’m losing just this fight
But not this battle
And every choice I justified
To make this better

And if that makes it hard to find
A grain of wheat in fields of barley
Then doing nothing… hardly
Makes it right

C-G-F-Am

Go beyond the city limits
Find where you belong
But a rainy evening calls for a rainy song

All the Best

All The Best LYRICS:
—————————————————————————-

F-Em-Am

The winter will end, and so will spring
And here’s to those that of you who bring
A smile to a friend

And all the best to those of us
Who still recall the things that passed
A while after their end

Dm-Am-Em-F

And if you can’t, the city lights will guide you home
You had your fun, but in the end you’re still alone
You traced the steps of those that came before you,
Walked through doors they opened for you,
Read the notes they left upon your wall

I just bought a new microphone and it’s amazing! Especially for the kind of one-track demos that I record. Little to no noise, the volume levels are perfect, I honestly wish I got this a year ago! I still sing off key though…

The Night LYRICS:
—————————————————————————-

Am-C-G-Dm    F-Em-Am

The night, it gathers itself
at the easternmost end of horizon
It rises to task, but it falters against city lights

The cold, it longs for some rest,
it prays for the best, but it’s hopeless
So hopeless the moon hangs itself in the sky

Dm-F-Em-Am

But I am here alone,
staring throught the glass
into a city park where snow
is covering the grass

I am here alone
looking throught the window
at the frozen shapes below
welcoming the winter

The bars, they open themselves
to the ones who can’t stand, in the city,
and charge exhuberant prices as if out of spite

The stars, their small beady eyes
unblinking and wise, full of pity,
reflecting themselves upon reservoirs

By Grace

Updated version with my new mic!

By Grace… LYRICS:
—————————————————————————-

G-Em-C-D

By grace and the love of god, be silent
I don’t want to hear another word of this
This awfulness.

Turn off this television channel
Log off the web, let’s go and grab a drink right now
This brings me down

Things have never stayed the same and they never would
And we’ll be ok, though it’s not all good
Just look at us today, we look
Like we passed away

I have always been your friend and when you beckoned
I often came, and for the record
This is not the worst that we weathered
We’ll be fine

We’ll be fine, mistakes and losses
We’ll be fine, effects and causes

And if things do not turn out the way you hoped
Just turn around, road is long and we have found
that if you walk along, you’ll get somewhere

There’s a million lives that you can live
People will love you and forgive,
And in another Christmas’ eve, you’ll be fine

But if it all goes down from here
If we fade out and disappear
Well at least let’s grab a beer pint
And not speak of this with a clear mind

New Age

Updated version with my new mic!

New Age LYRICS:
—————————————————————————-

D-A-Hm-F#m

It’s harder then it was,
To look around you and see a smile.
Has it been going out of style?
Well then… well then..

You sound a bit disheveled
Did you take a nap or just wake up?
Is three PM not late enough?
I’ll call you back again in 10

Call us boring, and say our stories are dull
You don’t have to, but we like what we’ve become

In this new age,
So what if we’re not righting wrongs?
We’re painting pictures, writing songs.
Our means, our ends.

So don’t act surprised
If we act proud, and feel entitled;
We order rounds, while you’re enlightened,
We’re still your friends

Silence Descends LYRICS:
—————————————————————————-

D-A-Em
Silence descends unto a house
Empty of sounds and words
Silence reflects down the streets
In corners of all the boroughs

Silence it seems, comes like a dream
and crushes the unprepared

D-A-Em-G
It’s too much wieght on their shoulders
To be alone as they get older
As people lose their jobs and homes
To sit and think and wait their turn

But you and I, what are we doing?
Beer and wine, and late night movie
We don’t buy into this feeling
Life is hard, but it’s forgiving

Silence breaks the conversation
But it’s a cause and an occasion
To reflect on what has happened
To be compassionate and happy

To be alone, among the crowds
And feel at  home

Playlist

Playlist lyrics:
————————————————————

G-C-Em-D
I’m having people over at my place, I hope you’re here
And bring with you some beer or someone

And I will make a playlist of the songs I want to hear
In your company, I hope that you don’t mind

There’s no TV, but that’s for better, I suppose.
Who wants to see the carbombs in Iraq

Who wants to see the hurricanes and wars
I think that we have seen enough

Em-Am-D-C
We stumble home at 3am,
load up on asperin and water
Thinking we’ve done the most we can

We will wake up with the light
And we will separate the truth,
from what we though was true last night

And still the doubts linger on
In longer shadows of the morning
Oh, did we do anything wrong?

On the sunday afternoon
We walk the city reminiscing
Not realizing what we missed
But we will all find out soon

November Afternoons

November Afternoons lyrics:
————————————————————

Em-Am-D-G
It’s so fucken cold
The winter came early this time
You put on a coat
And I rammage the closet for mine

It dawned on me then
It’s been almost a year for us
It’s winter again
And the puddles turn into glass

And headbands turn into hats
and sneakers turn into boots
And we walk hand in hand
On November afternoons

The stock market plummet again
Our friends are out of work
And the city shivers at night
As we try to escape the cold

And the greetings turn into frowns
And suggestions turn into rules
And we’re out and about
on November afternoons

But November evenings come so early
These are times we hoped would never come

And later city lights are glowing
This was our chance and we succumb
